Spiders and Routels
Together with its business partners, Tekbem has been supplying spiders and routels at various lengths and sizes for your projects which connect glass façade to the support structure.
Spiders, routels and connectors are important bearing elements for the façade systems they are used on and types of spiders and routels used affect the bearing capacity. Thus, they should be chosen carefully based on requirements of the specific project.
Spider systems offer exceptional transparency and unique designs when used with “point fixed glazing” systems.
Spiders and routels are used as bearing elements for many applications like “Glass Fin” Systems, façade systems with tension rods or cables, canopies, glass curtains, atriums, etc.
Spider systems used for glass façades are generally comprised of three components, spider, routel and connector, and vary based on the project requirements.

Spiders
Spiders generally have 1-2-3-4 arms based on where they are used on the façade. However, based on specific needs for certain projects, number of connection arms and angles between these arms may vary.

Stainless spiders and routels are available in polished or satin surface finishes as per customers’ requests.

There is another type of spider used for glass beam systems which is connected to glass supports on façade systems designed almost completely as glass.

There are also spider systems that can directly be connected to cable / tension systems on the façade.
Based on project requirements (wind load, glass weight, temperature differences, etc.), Tekbem determines service loads, distance between arms and lengths of arms and recommends you the suitable products among the standard products as wells as nonstandard products you might need.
Routels
These components, just like spiders and many other details (type, thickness and size of glass, wind load, etc.), are chosen and recommended based on project requirements.

These components allow minor adjustments and movements based on project requirements and minor movements of the façade.
To match to spiders, they can be supplied as polished or satin finishes.
Connectors
Connectors are systems used for connecting spiders to the bearing structure which are available at various lengths and properties. As per project requirements, pipe at the back of the spider can be cut and welded. This allows connection to the bearing structure without losing bearing properties of spider and routel.

Connectors might not be necessary for spiders that are connected to glass supports or cable/tension rod systems.
Supports
Supports are components generally used for spiders that are connected to cable or tension rod systems.
Our business partners manufacture these components in accordance with your project’s requirements to be connected directly to spiders or tension systems.

Design teams of our suppliers give design support to your projects for your spider needs.
