Lifting (Crane) Magnets
Lifting Magnets, crane magnets or magnetic cranes are systems obtained by connecting natural or electro magnet systems to the hooks of cranes. These systems help to lift heavy loads with the help of magnetic forces.
Parallel to technological advancements, lifting magnets have become one of the indispensable equipment for plants implementing more and more automated lines.
Speeding up production, reducing costs and at the same time maintaining a high level of workplace safety are among the priorities of companies. That is why, industrial usage of lifting magnets which can easily and quickly be adapted to the existing cranes and can be designed based on customer requirements is constantly increasing.
Lifting magnets have many advantages over the conventional method of using hook, lifting strap or chain.
- Direct surface contact by the magnet allows the load to be lifted easily.
- No additional lifting aid is required. Eliminates requirement of chains, ropes, cables or lifting straps.
- Magnetic field created is at least double the load which ensures safety.
- Hot materials can be lifted.
- Backup battery unit ensures safety even during power shortages.
Types of Lifting Magnets
Permanent Magnets
With the electric current the poles of the magnet change and it becomes magnetized. These magnets consume very limited electricity and can lift very heavy materials. Permanent magnets can easily be adapted for applications that involve very high temperatures. Since magnetization is through surface contact, they only lift materials which have direct surface contact with the magnet.
Electro Magnets
Magnetization is achieved through electric current given to the coils inside the magnet. These magnets create deep magnetic fields allowing to lift multiple materials at once. If requested, the materials can be lifted or dropped one by one. They can easily be adapted for applications that involve very high temperatures.
