Profile Magnets
Profile magnets were developed to replace the unsafe method of using lifting straps to lift profiles. These magnets are used for lifting profiles (box profiles, flat bar profiles, pipes, angle profiles, etc.) made into a bundle using metal strips. As this magnetic system eliminates the using of lifting straps, additional labor for the lifting strap is also not required and only one crane operator can perform the operation.
Eliminating the using of lifting straps and wedges also results in more efficient use of the stock yard and decreased inventory cost. Because electro permanent magnets require surface contact to lift the load, only electromagnets are used for profile lifting applications.

Unlike billet lifting applications where 2 magnets are used, profile bundle lifting applications may use 3 or 4 magnets based on the lengths of bundles. The reason for using more magnets is to distribute power to prevent damaging profiles which are final products. Addition of a 3rd or a 4th magnet ensures a balanced grip which prevents the profiles in the bundle from bending.
The manufacturer may design a magnetic system with a telescopic beam for lifting profile bundles with varying lengths. For example, if the lengths of profile bundles are between 4m and 12m, the beam can be designed as telescopic beam to safely carry such bundles.
Things to Consider When Choosing Profile Magnets
- Type of profiles to be lifted (box profiles, flat bar profiles, pipes, angle profiles, etc.),
- Crane lifting capacity,
- Minimum and maximum sizes of the profile bundle,
- Minimum and maximum weight of the profile bundle,
- Number of profile bundles to be lifted at once,
