Magnetic Drums

Magnetic drums provide an effective solution to separate ferrous materials from nonferrous materials.  Magnetic drums incorporate magnets systems that can separate various sizes of ferrous materials.

They are used by iron and steel manufacturers to separate undesired nonferrous materials inside scrap metal to increase purity.  This operation provides many advantages to steel mills such as the below;

  1. Reduction in refractory consumption,
  2. Reduction in electrode consumption,
  3. Reduction in lime consumption
  4. Reduction in ferroalloy consumption
  5. Increase in number of casting due to reduced casting time
  6. Scrap suppliers will try to supply cleaner scrap when they know about this system

Place of Use

Recycling plants, vehicle demolition plants, steel mills, mining, plastics, paper and wood industry, feed and fertilizers industry, etc.

Properties

Includes huge coils winded with anodized aluminum for high performance.  Anodized aluminum prevents the system from overheating.  Monolithic main shaft arm is made of iron.  Custom diameters and sizes are available.

Operating Principle

Moving materials enter the magnetic field generated by the drum and ferrous materials are pulled by the magnetic drum.  Ferrous materials are transferred to a different place by the wings on the drum and nonferrous materials are sent to another belt.  They can operate 24/7.  For a more effective scrap screening, a vibrating feeder is used before the magnetic drum.
