Roll (Coil) Magnets
Roll (Coil) magnets are designed for transporting hot or cold rolled coils from one location to another.
They can be controlled by a single operator from the control cabin of the crane, from a safe distance from the material to be transported or through the automation system.
Only electro magnets are suitable for coil lifting applications. Using coil lifting magnets can provide 40-60% stockyard optimization. This alone, is a significant advantage for the customers in terms of stock efficiency. There is no need for additional labor in stockpiling and transportation of coils. This provides savings in both time and labor cost.
Using the electronic control system, magnet power can be adjusted and magnet temperature can be kept under control. In case of a temperature change in the magnet, the system warns the operator.
As per customer’s demand, the system can be equipped with beams that allow +90 / -180 degree rotations. Additionally, it is possible to stockpile the coils vertically and horizontally.
Things to Consider When Choosing Roll (Coil) Magnets
- Minimum and maximum widths of coils,
- Minimum and maximum inner and outer diameters of coils,
- Vertical / horizontal loading preference,
- Temperature of the material,
- Crane lifting capacity,
- Width and location of straps on coils,
- Number of straps on coils,
- Information on protective material on the outer surface of coils, if any
Roll (Coil) Magnets are capable of carrying maximum 600 °C degree material since materials loose their magnetic properties above the 600 °C.
