Stationary Scrap Shears

Louritex stationary scrap shears cut metal scrap to size for recycling plants, scrap yards and steel mills. First, the shear compresses the scrap in the feed box. Then, a hydraulic pusher advances the material towards the cutting blade.

Louritex offers two stationary shear ranges. The PHGF range uses hydraulic wings, while the PHFELAV range compresses scrap from the side.

Wing-Type Stationary Scrap Shears – PHGF Series

Two hydraulic wings compress the scrap inside the feed box before cutting. Louritex offers six PHGF models with cutting forces of 500, 600, 700, 850, 1,000 and 1,300 tonnes.

Depending on the model and configuration, the feed box is 6 or 7 metres long. When choosing a feed box, consider the longest pieces your site receives. In addition, check how much space your loading equipment needs to reach the box.

Side-Squeeze Stationary Scrap Shears – PHFELAV Series

The PHFELAV series compresses scrap laterally before cutting. Louritex offers three models with cutting forces of 700, 1,500 and 2,500 tonnes.

The 700-tonne model offers a choice of 6- or 7-metre feed boxes. By comparison, the 1,500- and 2,500-tonne models have an 8-metre feed box. Compare both cutting force and feed box dimensions when choosing a model for your operation.

Choosing the Right Scrap Shear

First, identify the types of scrap you handle and the dimensions of the largest pieces. For example, sheet metal offcuts and heavy steel sections can have different cutting requirements. Next, determine your required cut length and target hourly throughput.

Cutting force describes the force the shear applies during a cut. Hourly throughput, on the other hand, describes how much scrap the machine processes in an hour. In practice, scrap characteristics, feeding rate and operating conditions all affect throughput.

When planning the layout, leave room for loading equipment to reach the feed box. Also, consider how your team will collect and move the cut scrap at the discharge point.

Technical Information and Quotations

For a quotation, share your scrap types, approximate piece dimensions and target hourly throughput with Tekbem. If possible, include photos of the scrap or a site layout. With these details, we can assess which series and feed box options fit your application.
