Slab Tongs
Slab tongs can be mechanical or electrohydraulic.
Mechanical System: When the tong is on the slab (or on the batch of slabs) the ratchet turn of 90° and the levers open. As soon the tong starts to raise, the slab (or the batch of slabs) is clamped between its inner and outer jaws.
Electrohydraulic System: Tongs often operate supported by a hydraulic system. A cylinder, fed by a minipowerpack, exert pressure that allows joints opening and closing.
They are usually used in hard workplaces market by burdensome working conditions and hard handling. They can be thought for all industrials applications in every kind of environment. They are usually used in steelmills, rolling mills and harbours.
